Job Description:

39 Licensed beds with surge capacity of 120. BLS, ACLS, PALS, and MAB are required. 300 patients seen daily. Ratios are 1:3-4. ER generally see's younger patients. Level II Trauma facility. 

  • Assesses patients on admission within specified time frames to include consideration of physical, psychosocial, cultural and spiritual needs
  • Reassess each patient’s health needs whenever warranted by the patient’s condition and at least every shift utilizing the nursing processes after obtaining a systematic database
  • Establishes a plan of care based on indefinite data from all appropriate sources
  • Reviews and updates the plan of care for each assigned patient utilizing data obtained from reassessments.
  • Administers oral, topical the parental medications utilizing the 7 rights
  • Assesses and documents effectiveness/untoward effects of medications and treatments.
  • Performs treatments and procedures with consideration of common nursing practice, hospital policy and procedure, sterile technique, standard precautions and patient privacy
  • Documents response to care and addresses pain management, discharge planning needs, educations and progress towards goals.
  • Documents in a legible and accurate manner to include date and time of entry, signature, and title.

  • Documents appropriate data on the Labor & Delivery flow sheet, and other forms used in the Labor and Delivery area
  • Able to assist the physician with placement of UIPC and fetal scalp Electrode
  • Reviews fetal monitor strips ongoing for signs of fetal distress
  • Able to apply the external fetal monitor and position the sono and tocotransducer correctly to monitor Fetal Heart Tones and Uterine Activity
  • Identifies changes in patient condition (fetal distress, Magnesium hypertoxicity, etc) and notifies the physician as appropriate
  • Accurately assesses DTR’s and Magnesium Sulfate level during the management of patients receiving Magnesium Sulfate for pre-term labor and PIH
  • Promotes bonding between the mother and baby
  • Assists the mother in initiating breastfeeding
  • Assesses the neonate adaptation to extra uterine life
  • Understands Infant Abduction policy
  • Understands the chain of command when issues are identified
  • Familiar with policy on nurse collected specimens for Rhogam, Type and Cross/Screen (i.e. two nurses witness labeling at the bedside with use of 2 patient identifiers)

Job Description:

  • CVICU needed for 13 week travel assignment.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience needed.
  • Must have experience with open heart patients.

Current RN license, state of California.

Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS card and ACLS. 

Basic EKG course or passing of 80% or greater on exam to be completed within orientation period and completion of a 12 Lead EKG class within 12 months of hire/transfer.
