Industrial Electrical Technician

IMPORTANT:  Minimum of 2 years operational experience in an industrial environment working on equipment up to 11Kv 3 phase switchgear, motor control centers, and power distribution required
 
Position Responsibilities:

The Electrical Technician is directly responsible to the Maintenance Manager for ensuring that all electrical equipment within the plant is maintained and operates to the highest standards. They will be both knowledgeable and qualified to carry out their designated work. All work and tasks are to be performed in a safe and efficient manner. The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Organizing and planning designated work to be performed
  • Leading a small team of technicians
  • Designating work to the team of Electrical Technicians
  • To be fully familiar with the operation of the plant
  • Ensure all applicable codes and standards are met
  • Commitment to safety while performing all aspects of their duties
  • Be familiar with Lock out / tag out procedures
  • To be fully aware of the direct safety hazards involved with any particular job and all other hazards in and around the plant 

Position Responsibilities:  

  • To assist in carrying out controlled startups and shut downs of the plant under supervision from management
  • To perform maintenance routines and equipment repairs on all electrical equipment without supervision
  • To complete defect and maintenance reports
  • To ensure all planned maintenance is carried out effectively
  • To ensure breakdowns and defects are dealt with in a timely fashion
  • Reporting all defects on the MMS software
  • To inform the Maintenance Manager of parts and materials that require ordering
  • To assign work and maintenance tasks to the Electrical Technicians
  • Ensure all plant equipment is maintained in accordance with manufacturers’ guidelines and manuals
  • Ability to diagnose faults on equipment down to component level
  • Ability to stand in for shift cover as necessary
  • To carry out instructions given by the Maintenance Manager
  • Maintain all plant and equipment integrity
  • Monitoring the performance and operation of the plant through the SCADA Interface
  • Notify the Maintenance Manager of any irregularities found during their working hours
  • Perform conductivity profiles on RO stands as required
  • To rectify defects that are recorded in the defects book
  • Maintain an organized, clean tool room and workshop area     
  • Assist in the clean-up of the RO facility and around the plant.
  • Assist in any new installations and/or fabrication of modular units.
  • Supervise Electrical Technicians to ensure work is performed properly and safely
  • Attend any training relating to the Plant at the discretion of the Company 

Position Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years operational experience in an industrial environment working on equipment up to 11Kv 3 phase switchgear, motor control centers, and power distribution required
  • Experience working with PLC Logic preferred
  • Experience working in the operations of RO plants preferred
  • Possession of a valid California driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to read and understand manuals in English
  • Experience using computer systems
  • Ability to work weekends, overtime, and holidays when necessary
  • Ability to work overtime and be on 24 hour call when needed
  • Successfully pass a background and drug test

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and over 51lbs with assistance
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, crouch, kneel, climb, balance, push/pull, and walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to enter and exit small confined spaces
  • Finger dexterity to work keyboard or operate tools, grasp tools and carry objects
  • Ability so see in the normal range of vision with or without correction sufficient to read computer screens, documents, dials, gauges, meter-reading equipment, and operate motor vehicles and equipment
  • Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction

  • Industrial environment working both indoors and outdoors continuously around:

  • Salt and fresh water
  • Uneven, rough or slippery surfaces
  • Hazardous chemicals in solid, liquid, and vapor form

  • Equipment under high pressure
